Lincoln Continental

Elwood Engel redesigned the Lincoln Continental in 1961. Lincoln Continental was intended to give Lincoln a unique signature style. One of the distinct feature of the Continental is its size that is much shorter compared to the previous models.  Lincoln Continental is known for its suicide door style, where the rear doors hung from the rear and opened from the front. The 1961 Continental famous and striking style won major design awards and was copied by other car manufacturers.

In 1963 due to the massive popularity of the Continental, customer requested that the front seat would be redesigned to provide a spacious leg room. The designer decided that the rear deck lid should be raised to provide bigger trunk space. The following year 1964 Lincoln Continental was expanded into 3 more inches to give a bigger leg-room for the rear-seat. Changes to the Lincoln Continental took place every year from 1965 – 1969 this is to respond to the needs to the prospective buyers.

The 1965 Continental was improved and a front disc brake was installed to improve stopping time to ensure safety among the passengers. In 1966, a two-door version was introduced; it is the first ever two doors for Lincoln. On the other hand, the 1967 Lincoln Continental was almost identical to the 1966 version but the obvious difference with the Lincoln Logo placement.

Lincoln Continental that was produced from 1965 – 1969 are now considered high value vintage luxury car.
